Alignment of the planets…
With a few ads on Bandmix.com and a relationship or two gone south, the wheels were set in motion for four guys to meet and begin a creative journey that would change the world forever. Or at the very least Scott’s house for a few months.
Frontman Terry Gowing, a long time songwriter and instrumentalist was looking to turn his guitar-centric song ideas into a legitimate rock act. Tim Giddens was looking for the missing piece of his musical life, and it wasn’t long before the pieces fell into place, then fell apart, and fell into place again to form the band we now know as Firing Shawna.
With the addition of Scott Crisafulli and Dex, the band honed their sound, evoking the spirit of 90s post-grunge rock. Tracks such as “Phantoms” and “Exit Wounds” emerged as rallying cries to reignite the rock scene. In a music landscape dominated by pop stars filling stadiums and radio stations closing their doors, Firing Shawna boldly asserts, “rock is here to stay.” Their resolve? If dissenters disagree, they’ll simply turn up the volume.
Terry Gowing
“When I was young, I can remember picking out the instruments of the songs playing on the radio. I remember hearing a bass line, and without even understanding that it was a different instrument, I could hear the part and how it interacted with the others. I could hear the sounds of the different drums and imagine the limbs of the drummer coordinating to play the parts. In highschool, I discovered recording. It became a reason to learn how to play everything. Every sound was a color, and I was out to create a masterpiece. Still am.” -Terry Gowing
